I heard a haunting choir of angels 'neath the overpass
I looked but failed to find church bells, a steeple, or stained glass
Not heavenly light nor stereo it seemed could nearby be
There only was a traffic jam, the choral song, and me

"Shakespeare was a wonderful poet,"
Thought a man who had no way to know it,
So he sat through Macbeth,
Which bored him to death,
And now he tells Shakespeare to stow it.

A heavy weight upon a ship
Is simply necessary;
You'll always find one on a clip
Or schooner, or a ferry.

The anchor is a clumsy thing,
As needed as the sail.
In stormy blasts must sailors fling
It headlong to the gale.

Our own vessels too, I think-
The body, and the mind-
Need protection, lest they sink
In tempests that we find.

For this reason, with such sails
As dreams and hope and art,
We're also built against their fails
Through weight inside the Heart!
